Allegheny Camp of the Arts
Performing Arts Building
This program is perfect for girls, ages 7-17, looking for a fun camp experience in a beautiful, serene location with top-notch arts facilities. Grier Summer offers a three-week program in creative and performing arts. Campers choose four different elective activities from a variety of creative and recreational options. Activities are taught by counselors, Grier School teachers or professionals hired for summer activities. Activities are offered only if there is a qualified or experienced instructor. For example, the art classes were taught by three college students all majoring in art or arts education. The ceramics classes included instruction on the potter's wheel, taught by an intern from Juniata College.
Alessandra and Elena were riders but also enjoyed the arts classes!
Summer campers can choose to participate with the Grier Summer Players for one or even two of their activity periods. Each activity period in GSP is treated as a rehearsal. Students play theater games, act, sing, and dance. Each camper in GSP learns and performs two large ensemble Broadway tunes with singing, dancing and acting. They choose to participate in a third musical theater number, dance number or acting scene. At the end of the camp session, GSP perform a final performance for friends and families. Grier Summer Players and dance classes are very popular activities!
